David
L. Tibbals was president of D. L. Tibbals Risk Management Consulting
Inc. and was responsible for client services and the overall strategic
direction and management of the company.
David founded his company in 1987 to provide personalized
impartial representation in the field of risk management. He provided consulting services to a variety of clients, including
those engaged in the management of hotels and resorts, real estate
development and management, healthcare, financial institutions, technology,
and light and heavy industry.
In
1978, Mr. Tibbals began his risk management consulting career with
the Betterley Consulting Group in Boston, which was acquired by
Tillinghast, Nelson and Warren Inc. in 1981, where he was a vice
president in Tillinghast's Boston and Atlanta offices.
After working in the Tillinghast's Boston office for six
years, he moved to Atlanta where he established Tillinghast's risk
management consulting practice in the Southeast.
Prior
to entering the field of risk management, Mr. Tibbals started his
insurance career in 1970 as a surety bond underwriter with Chubb
and Son Inc. in New York.
He then spent six years with a major insurance broker in
New York and Chicago where he was an assistant vice president and
account executive responsible for a variety of medium and large
commercial accounts.
David
Tibbals received his BA from Rutgers College and his MBA degree
from Rutgers University. He
also completed graduate work at the University of Chicago School
of Business Administration, where he concentrated in the fields
of finance and management.
Mr.
Tibbals was past president of the Georgia Society for Healthcare Risk
Management (GSHRM), a past
president and a member of The Society of Risk Management Consultants
(SRMC) and The International Society of Hospitality Consultants
(ISHC).
David's
sudden death in June, 2005 was felt by the many clients and insurance
brokers/agents with whom he worked as well as his family and friends.
He left his wife, Leslie, and sons Peter and Alex. Those of us who
worked with him daily still miss him & remember him with a smile.
